unknown technologies

Advanced low-cost open hardware synthesizers, samplers, and utility modules.

The Emulight System

Did you ever think that Eurorack has too many cables and modules are too expensive anyway? Think again, the Emulight System removes almost all the cables, provides digital controls with patch storage and automation, and it is available at a very low price. The hardware design files as well as the firmware source code are open source and available on GitHub. All Emulight modules come with the necessary programming interfaces to modify the firmware. If you think your Emulight module should do something different or maybe have an extra feature, you are encouraged to add it yourself! All you need is the firmware development toolchain as well as the required programmer hardware (SWD for microcontrollers, JTAG for FPGAs).

The core of the Emulight System is the advanced digital ESL bus, read more about it here.

Although all Emulight modules are intended to operate within an Emulight System, many can be used in standalone mode too. However, when a module is used in standalone mode, some features might not be available, like high speed data transfers between a controller or PC and the module.

Utility Modules

What is the point of a Eurorack system if you cannot get low-cost utility modules, e.g., to connect multiple modules together? This is the reason why unknown technologies also provides a selected number of basic utility modules to process gate, audio, and MIDI signals. The utility modules are also useful for people who do not intend to get Emulight modules and instead want to enhance their existing Eurorack system.
